How to avoid these fraudsters on social media?

Social media platforms where complaints against companies have become an immediate solution to any problem, but cyber fraudsters have not spared it either. Through this also a new way of cheating has been found. Don't blindly trust any customer care number you get from Google because there is every possibility of a fake customer care number displayed on Google as the top priority.

Today we will discuss this new method of forgery. Along with this, we will understand what is this new model of fraudsters. How they are doing it, how do you have to be alert? We will tell you all in this article. Nowadays, all the complaints related to banking, education, and railways are flooded on social media platforms. The public often wants immediate solutions.

The government also takes action on these complaints. That's why people don't hesitate to take their complaints to any government institution indiscriminately. But this convenience can become a cause of trouble due to your little carelessness. You did not complain that Fraudsters become active. We will tell you how fraudsters keep trying to cheat us by using our complaints as means.

As soon as someone sends his complaint problem through social media to IRCTC, e-commerce or food chain. Fraudsters become active. Many times the complainant also shares a lot of personal information with the complaint. From there the fraudsters set their target. They immediately contact the complaint.

Assures them to solve the problem and asks them to fill out a Google form instead of asking them for any sensitive information directly over the phone. This form will be such that it appears that it has been made to address the complaint of the customer. The complainant did not fill out the form that the fraudsters started cheating on him.

At the same time, many times the fraudsters ask the complainant to tweet their complaint to message and take them into confidence. After this, they are asked to solve the problem by sending the link. The latest example of this is from Mumbai, where a few days back a woman tweeted about her IRCTC ticket. Along with this, the woman also shared the ticket PNR number and mobile number in her tweet.

What then was the woman received a call within an hour who posing as a customer care executive of IRCTC sent a link to the woman and also asked her to transfer ₹2. The thug assured the woman to get the ticket confirmed. As soon as a payment of ₹ 2 was made by visiting the link on behalf of the woman, ₹ 64,000 was cleared from her account.

Apart from this, many times they try to solve the problem by taking customer care numbers with the help of Google, but as soon as they go to Google search, they usually see fake customer care numbers or websites at the top. And the game starts here. Their calls go straight to fraudster and they end up getting scammed by sharing their sensitive information.

Talking about the measures to avoid this, be alert while making your complaint. Do not share any information over the phone or mobile phone. Take the customer care number by visiting the authentic website. Do not click on any link because now the talk of fraud with OTP has become old. Now fraudsters are finding new ways to cheat you. We aim to make you aware of these fraudsters and break the network of the fraudster.

Because now it is going to be easier to complain about bad products and their services.

So much so that now you will be able to complain about any bad product sitting at home. Let's understand how all this will happen. You must have heard that there is a ministry to look after consumer affairs. At present, complaints can be lodged on the National Consumer Helpline of this Ministry through WhatsApp

Apart from this, you will also be able to see the status update of your complaint through WhatsApp. This will make it easier to complain about poor products and services. Apart from this, customers will also be able to send documents related to their complaints. Customers will also be able to check the status of the complaint on WhatsApp.

The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, food and public distribution will soon start giving these complaints through WhatsApp. If you look at the old statistics, according to them, more than 7 lakh complaints are registered on these helplines every year. More than half of the complaints are registered through the phone helpline itself. 10 languages and more than 50 helplines have been opened for complaints.

The point of discussion is that 90% of the complaints are resolved through the helpline, while the remaining complaints are advised to be filed in the consumer court. Apart from this, let us tell you that if any shopkeeper, supplier, or company gives you defective goods or services, then he will have to repair or replace them immediately.

If the company does not do this, then you can complain in the consumer forum. Some laws have also been made for these types of complaints. In the Consumer Protection Act 1986, consumer courts were set up at three levels to hear such cases. If your case is worth up to ₹ 20 lakhs, then you can complain to the District Consumer Forum.

If the case is more than 20 lakhs and less than ₹ 1 crore then you can file a case in the consumer commission of the state. But if the cost of goods or services purchased is more than ₹ 1 crore, then you can go directly to the National Consumer Commission. The person who has received the product can file a case. Even if someone has sent you some gift and you have not received it, you can file a case instead.
