Why is the consumption of antibiotics increasing despite government advisories?

The government of India issued an advisory on the unnecessary use of antibiotics medicines. Especially with the flu, people are taking antibiotics without the doctor's advice. In such a situation, it was also talked about banning its indiscriminate use in ICMR.

The ICMR and the government have also said this before, but despite this, if you look at the data, the sale of antibiotics is continuously increasing. Today we will talk about this serious issue that the government has to issue the advisory. Despite this, the consumption of antibiotics is increasing in India, and also sales are increasing.

What are the dangers of its unnecessary use of antibiotic? From WHO to all agencies, the unnecessary use of antibiotics has been described as a big threat to the entire human race. Despite that, why are we not able to give up antibiotics, and is it so important to take antibiotics now and then?

Are antibiotics the cure for every infection? Otherwise, why is its use increasing indiscriminately? This is a big question. The growing trend of antibiotics has also increased the concern of the government. The Indian government has issued an advisory on this and has asked to immediately stop the unnecessary use of antibiotics.

ICMR has made it clear that the use of antibiotics in excess and without medical advice can put health at risk. A shocking report has come out, which says that among the drugs whose sales increased during the flu and covid-19, antibiotic drugs have generally been the main ones.

There was a 115% increase in its sales in February as compared to January this year. Augmentin medicine sold for ₹80 crores in February. During this period, the diabetes drug Glycomet GP saw a growth of 27% with sales of ₹64 crores, and breathing medicine foracort saw a growth of 36% with sales of ₹66 crores.

That is, people used these medicines a lot during the flu, while the truth is that antibiotics prove effective in bacterial infections instead of viral ones. Even with viral fever, people take antibiotics of their own. Especially in the flu, fever lasts for 3 to 4 days, but the cough can persist for 2 to 3 weeks.

In such a situation, ICMR has also advised doctors to avoid giving antibiotics to people in such cases. At the same time, IMA also said that people who are taking antibiotics like Azithromycin, and Amoxicillin without knowing the disease, should stop taking them immediately because excessive use of them kills the good bacteria in the body.

Its excessive intake reduces the immunity to fight diseases. Talking about its danger, excessive use of antibiotics is turning bacteria into superbugs. Superbugs means such bacteria which no medicine affects after some time. WHO itself has also said that the treatment of diseases like pneumonia, TB, poisoning, and Gonorrhea is becoming difficult due to the unnecessary use of their antibiotics.

ICMR has also said that the drug Carbapenems used in the treatment of pneumonia septicemia has now proved to be ineffective. According to WHO, unnecessary use of antibiotics will prove ineffective in the next 25 years. Overuse of antibiotics weakens the immune system. In addition to diseases such as diabetes, Alzheimer's, and Parkinson's, the risk of inflammatory bowel disease i.e. IBD increases.

Let us explain to you that IBD is an infection associated with inflammation in the digestive tract. Under this, the risk of serious diseases like Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis increases, so avoid the unnecessary use of antibiotics as much as possible. Otherwise, in the coming days, these medicines will not work as per the need and it will be difficult to cure the disease.

So don't use antibiotics or any medicine excessively without medical advice, it can put your health at risk. We hope you like the information. if you have any questions in your mind please do tell us by comment.
