Is WhatsApp secretly listening to our conversations?

As soon as the eyes open in the morning, the eyes go to Whatsapp and till late night the process of messages or calls continues on Whatsapp. The situation is such that without it, everyday life comes to a standstill because everything from home to office is being done through WhatsApp only.

WhatsApp has become the easiest and most popular brand in the world to share or chat with friends. But is it not that WhatsApp is secretly listening to our conversations? That is when we are not using WhatsApp, even when we are not using our phone, WhatsApp is silently listening to our conversations.

A user tweeted a complaint with proof that WhatsApp was using his phone's microphone while he was sleeping. This allegation is serious because it is related to our privacy. First, let us tell you how the complaint of eavesdropping on WhatsApp has come to the fore. Engineering Director Foad Dabiri tweeted on Twitter and told that WhatsApp was using his phone's microphone even when he was sleeping.

He also shared a screenshot that showed at what time WhatsApp was using his phone's microphone. It has already been discussed that Google and Facebook listen to our conversations in the background. That is, even when these apps are not being used, our conversations can be heard and it is argued that that is why we see such ads which we are discussing.

But the same allegation of listening to things has been leveled against WhatsApp and that too with evidence. That's why there is a discussion about it all over the world. Renowned industrialist and owner of Twitter, Elon Musk retweeted Dabiri 's tweet and wrote that WhatsApp cannot be trusted.

On the other hand, Dabiri's tweet went viral upon seeing it and crores of people saw it. After this clarification came from WhatsApp. In a tweet, it was said, in contact with the Twitter engineer who posted WhatsApp, and argued that it was due to an Android bug. The company also said that it is in touch with Google and the developers are trying to find a solution.

WhatsApp has claimed to maintain users' privacy at all times, saying that users have full control over their microphone settings, and when users allow the use of the microphone, WhatsApp will only record voice notes or videos while making calls. While using it, all conversations are end-to-end encrypted.

WhatsApp can't hear them but this is what WhatsApp claims while not only Dabri but many people on Twitter have admitted that even when they were not using the phone they found WhatsApp's microphone listening to them. That's why this matter has caught fire and in India too the government has become serious about it.

Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar tweeted that this is a violation of privacy which will not be accepted at all. We will promptly investigate and take action on any breach of confidentiality of personal information. The number of WhatsApp users in India is around 500 million.

It can be understood from this how much WhatsApp is accessible, but apart from messages on this platform, voice messages and calls are also available, for which microphone permission has to be given in the app. But has this permission been misused? Is our privacy being invaded?

This is a serious question, the answer to which will be available only after investigation. But till then it is necessary to be careful and alert. It is also important to honk to warn friends and relatives, so be careful.

Government strict action on Whatsapp:

For the last few days, WhatsApp users are getting calls from international numbers. Alerts are being issued everywhere regarding these calls. WhatsApp users are getting spam calls and messages from international numbers like +254, +84, +63, +21, +62. These spam calls are mostly coming from African and South East Asian countries.

Now the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology is going to send a notice to WhatsApp soon in the case of international spam calls. On this issue, Union Minister Rajiv Chandrasekhar  has said that WhatsApp will have to take strict steps to ensure trust and safety. According to Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar, spam callers getting numbers of WhatsApp users is also worrying.

It should be investigated whether the database has been leaked or whether random calls are being made through Chatbots. Instructions will be given to WhatsApp to look into these issues. Earlier, the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center i.e. IOC of the Ministry of Home Affairs also issued an alert to avoid becoming a victim of fraud.

Experts also believe that everyone is troubled by incoming calls at any time. From employed businessmen to students, everyone is getting this call at any time. Along with this, Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar has also assured to investigate the matter of recording the calls of the users without their permission.

Rajeev Chandrasekhar tweeted that this is an unexpected violation of privacy. We will investigate it immediately and take action on any breach of privacy. Even the new Digital Individual Data Protection Bill i.e. DIDP is being prepared. However, Rajeev Chandrasekhar has also clarified that according to WhatsApp, the call record is not correct.

For some time there was a bug in Google's Android, which happened. WhatsApp has given this information after seeking clarification from the government. In such a situation, Chandrashekhar has denied the possibility of panic. If you like the information then please comment and don't forget to share.
